Mercedes Mígel Carpio (February 18, 1979), alias Vega, is a singer and songwriter who hails from Cordoba, Spain. Vega started out as a waitress and left university life to join Operacion Triunfo, a big Spanish contest, which effortlessly spring-boarded her to fame. Her musical style is that of classical Spanish with influences from Frank Sinatra, K’s choice, and Las Planetas. Now on her fourth album (Metamorfosis) with her new recording company Universal Spain, Vega is doing a tour in Asia and Manila is one of her stops.
